<br />1. Review your Performance Insights usage and monitoring requirements=
. Choose CloudWatch Database Insights mode (Standard or Advanced) [3] based=
 on your needs. See the user documentation [4] for details on the two modes=
 and the pricing page [5] for information on its pricing.
<br />2. Update infrastructure as code tools (CloudFormation, Terraform) to=
 use Database Insights [6]
<br />3. Important: Taking no action defaults all instances to Standard (fr=
ee) mode on July 1, 2026, losing performance history beyond 7 days and all =
advanced features.
<br />
<br />As a reminder, these are the changes that will take place on June 30,=
 2026:
<br />
<br />1. The Performance Insights dashboard in the RDS console will be depr=
ecated and all the links to the dashboard will be redirected to the CloudWa=
tch Database Insights dashboard.
<br />2. Performance Insights flexible retention periods (1 to 24 months) a=
long with their pricing will be deprecated. If your current Performance Ins=
ights retention period is between 16 and 24 months, please note that the Ad=
vanced mode of CloudWatch Database Insights has a retention limit of up to =
15 months. When you upgrade to CloudWatch Database Insights, you will not b=
e able to access performance data older than 15 months.
<br />3. The Execution Plan Capture feature [7] for RDS for Oracle and RDS =
for SQL Server (currently available in the Performance Insights free tier) =
will transition to the Advanced mode of CloudWatch Database Insights.
<br />
<br />Note: You can continue using Performance Insights APIs after June 30,=
 2026, as there are no changes to their functionality. However, all charges=
 associated with their usage will now be visible under charges for CloudWat=
ch on your AWS bill.
<br />
<br />Credits Program: We continue to offer a credits program if you upgrad=
e to Database Insights Advanced mode before November 30, 2025. The credits =
will cover the incremental cost difference between Performance Insights and=
 Database Insights between June 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025, (inclusive)=
. Your RDS and Aurora instances are eligible if they had Performance Insigh=
ts paid-tier enabled prior to May 30, 2025, and the upgrade to CloudWatch D=
atabase Insights Advanced mode happens prior to November 30, 2025. RDS for =
Oracle/SQL Server with Performance Insights free-tier enabled prior to May =
30, 2025, are also eligible for credits if they are upgraded to CloudWatch =
